I absolutely loved this book! Catherine and Jackson gave me all the feels. Corinne’s writing is beautiful, powerful and tugs at your heart strings. She is one of my favorite authors and I have read everything she has wrote. I've been horrible at leaving reviews and trying to do it now. This book and its sequel is so worth reading! Everything she writes is.
Love this book! It’s such a good read and I can’t wait to read all the books in the series! Definitely recommend!
Leaves you hanging
I hate books that force you to buy the next in the series. While this book was good- not great-it is only the start of the story. The description should state that its only part of the story. To read such a long, drawn out story and have no end is very annoying. The main character is really screwed up, and it gets repeated over and over. It gets monotonous.
First time reading this author. There is potential with her writing, but not there yet. I chose this book for all the five star ratings but after reading this long drawn out story, I am not sure why. Sadly, I am not interested enough to read the second part.
Great but there's a cliff hanger
Just end the book, don't leave us hanging. It's not nice.

When we first meet Catherine, it is the day of her ninth birthday party and her beloved father is leaving her, never to be seen again. She thinks that it is because she isn't enough — that she wasn't quiet enough, good enough, happy enough, just "enough" of anything — to make her father want to stay. And, since she looks sooo much like her father, her mother takes it out on her throughout her childhood. Fast forward twenty years later and Catherine has two best friends, Ashton and Gretchen. She shares an apartment with Ashton, but is happily planning her wedding to Neil. When she gets their wedding invitations, she heads over to Neil's house to show them to him and catches him in the middle of having sex with someone she thought was her friend.
Three months later, she is out celebrating Gretchen's birthday with her friends when a fall lands her in the lap of a gorgeous man. When he asks for her name, she tells him she is engaged and leaves the restraunt as quickly as possible. A couple of days later, she ends up going head to head against Neil for a new client, only to find out that he stole her pitch — turns out, you can't trust a cheater to not use your passwords when you've used his computer to log in to business. When she ends up winning the client after all, she is stunned to find the sexy Jackson at the first meeting she has with the CEO of the company.
Catherine is dealing with a lot of pain due to her father leaving her when she was young and the crappy childhood she had. She doesn't want to get mixed up with Jackson, but her body is so drawn to him that she can't avoid getting closer to him. And, the closer they get, the more he helps her heart to heal. But, Jackson is holding some dark pain and regrets of his own, which ends up causing more pain for both of them. What happened when he went back to the desert to pick up the body of his friend? This book ends on a major cliffhanger, but I have hope that things will work out for them

An Enjoyable Read
This book was an enjoyable read for me. The writing was good. The characters deal with some real life issues from their past and present that steer the course of their relationship. I did not expect a cliffhanger ending, but don't mind it. If you write something I like, I'm willing to tumble further down the rabbit hole. In this case- I look forward to reading the next book.
Catherine is a woman who suffered absolute heartbreak at a young age. As an adult, her life seems to be going in the right direction- especially since she is about to marry the love of her life. Then, in a horrible turn of events, she is once again destroyed by an important man in her life. Leaving her with trust issues and insecurities of never being enough, she is no longer looking for love because she fears it will always end in heartbreak. So she focuses on the one thing that she is successful in, her career.
Jackson is a sexy, rich, ex Navy Seal with two successful businesses to run. He has demons from his past that still haunt him but he manages to survive by throwing himself fully into his work.
Upon a chance meeting when Catherine literally falls into Jackson's lap, sparks ignite but are quickly extinguished because of Catherine's unwillingness to believe that what could have potential, will ever end well.
But when business becomes the common factor for the two and more and more time is spent, it is hard to deny the attraction they both have for one another. Especially when Jackson has no problem telling Catherine exactly what he wants from her.
This story has its share of ups and downs, sexy hot love scenes and leaves you eager for the next book. I would recommend this novel because I enjoyed it myself.
